Oral Cancer in Women: Early Signs Every Woman Must Know | Dr. Amit Chakraborty
Oral Cancer does not develop overnight. It starts as a small painless sore — and most women ignore it. By the time pain begins, the cancer has already become aggressive. Risk factors in women:
- Tobacco consumption and passive smoking
- HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection
- Hormonal and nutritional factors
- Poor oral hygiene
- Lack of routine oral screening
Early signs to never ignore:
- A sore inside the mouth not healing for 2-3 weeks
- White or red spots in the mouth (red spots are more dangerous)
- Difficulty eating or spitting
- Unable to eat spicy food
- Difficulty opening the mouth
- Change in voice
- Lumps or knots in the throat
HPV-related Oral Cancer is vaccine preventable — 3 doses of the HPV vaccine can significantly reduce your risk. Get your oral health checkup done routinely. Early detection is always the best treatment.
