Whenever we find a lump near the neck or if there is swelling near the neck, the chances of it being cancer are 50% per cent. Therefore it is important for patients to undergo doctors’ consultations and diagnose the problem. Previously whenever a patient used to suffer from swelling in the neck, it was considered as it is from TB. Whenever we observe swelling in the neck, the doctors recommend tests such as FNAC ( Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) or True Cut Biopsy in order to check whether the lump is cancerous or not cancerous. If it’s a cancerous lump then it is removed and sent for testing in order to check the type of cancer and to decide further treatment protocol. There are many reasons for lymph nodes or neck mass.
- It can be caused due to mouth ulcers or mouth cancer
- It can be caused due to Oropharyngeal Cancer or throat cancer.
-It can be caused due to Lung Cancer or Esophagus cancer. According to the type of cancer, the doctor decides the treatment protocol. If the neck lump is due to mouth cancer and oropharyngeal cancer then it is treated by Surgery and Food Pipe Cancer then it is treated by chemotherapy or radiation.
