In this video, Dr. Amit Chakraborty (M.S. Gen. Surgery, M.Ch. Oncosurgery) will provide us with detailed information about stage 1 tongue cancer and whether it can be cured.
The tongue can be affected by a variety of cancers, but tongue cancer most commonly begins in the thin, flat squamous cells that line the surface of the tongue. The type of cells involved in your tongue cancer influences your treatment options.
In stage 1 the ulcer is less than 2cm. Stage 1 tongue cancer is absolutely curable and only requires 5% of the tongue part to be removed. If cancer doesn’t spread to the neck the patient does not require to undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
If anyone feels suspicious about the ulcer in their mouth should visit a specialist as soon as possible as it can be stage 1 tongue cancer.
